The purpose of your life

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfilment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness.  It Is far greater than your family, your career or even your wildest dreams and ambitions.

You were born by HIS purpose and for HIS purpose. To know the purpose of your existence, you have to start with God!

Focussing on ourselves will never reveal life’s purpose. You were made by God and for God – and until you understand that, life will never make sense. The purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity.

What drives your life?

Is your life –
… driven by guilt?
… driven by resentment and anger?
… driven by fear?
… driven by materialism?
… driven by the need for approval?
… driven by desire of comfort?
… driven by desire of stability?

… or is your life driven by a purpose which is HIS?

You weren’t put on earth to be remembered. You were put here to prepare for eternity. Knowing your purpose prepares you for eternity. The average life span of a human being is 25,550 days. Surely God did not make you just for this brief and temporary period. You were made to last forever. Compared with eternity, life is extremely brief. Life on earth is a temporary assignment.

This life is preparation for the next.  When you live in the light of eternity, your values change.

Question: Since I was made to last forever, what is the one thing I should STOP doing and the one thing I should START doing today?

Unfortunately, we don’t see things as they are. We see them as we are. Character is both developed and revealed by tests and all of life is a test. The more God gives you, the more responsible He expects you to be.

The ultimate goal of the universe is to show the glory of God. Living for God’s glory is the greatest achievement we can accomplish with our lives.

God’s glory is best seen in Jesus Christ.

We bring glory to God by:

  • worshipping Him.
  • loving others
  • becoming like Christ
  • serving others
  • telling others about Him.

What will you live for?

Living the rest of your life for the glory of God will require a change in your priorities, your schedule, your relationships, and everything else. It will sometimes mean choosing a difficult path instead of an easy one.

Who are you going to live for – yourself or God?

And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died and was raised for them.

2 Cor 5:15

Jesus will give you everything you need to live for Him. Just believe!

Believe that God made you for His purpose.

Believe that you were made to last forever.

Believe that God has chosen you to have a relationship with Jesus.

Believe that God wants to forgive you, no matter what you’ve done.

Receive Jesus into your life as your Saviour.

Receive His forgiveness.

Receive His Spirit, who will give you power to fulfill your life’s purpose.

Pray:
“Jesus, I believe in you and I receive you.”
