“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:18.
The above verse clearly states that only through the power of the Cross that all Christians are saved, who accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Those who do not accept Jesus Christ will perish.
The Cross of Jesus is the central symbol of redemption and love, where Jesus takes on the sins of humanity, becoming the ultimate sacrifice. The Cross is not an end in itself, but a precursor to the Resurrection and a new life in Christ; a symbol of love with arms outstretched to all humanity.
The Cross is the root and foundation of Christianity, it is the pinnacle of our faith; without the Cross there is no Christianity.
The Cross of Jesus has three things: First, a description of man’s sin. The Roman soldiers are not guilty who put Jesus on the cross-it was your sins and my sins that made it necessary for Him to volunteer this death. Secondly, the overwhelming love of God. If you should ever doubt God’s love take a long, deep look at the cross. Thirdly, the cross is the only way to salvation. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man comes to the Father but by me.” John14:6.
The Cross reveals the TRINITY. God the Father sent the Son to save the world, the Son submitted to the Father’s will, the Holy Spirit applies the work of redemption to the followers of Jesus Christ.
The Cross is the center of the Bible, without the cross the Bible will have no beginning or ending, no climax or solution; because of the cross the Bible has meaning, reveals God’s steadfast love, His faithfulness, His plan for Humanity.
The power of the cross is the key that unlocks our hearts and opens the connection to our Creator. It sets us free from eternal damnation, revealing to us the cost Jesus paid on the cross to save Humanity. It conquers Sin, Death and Evil canceling the record of death that stood against Humanity.
The Cross brings love, peace, forgiveness, reconciliation and unity; it is the marching orders for Christians to be a solider for Jesus against Satan and all his evil spirits; for Satan fears the Cross and Jesus defeated him by death on the Cross.
The ‘Sign of the Cross is a prayer’-
“But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” – Galatians 6:14.
It is the logo for Catholics, it is a sign to show the world that we are Christians and we belong to Jesus Christ. In our homes and in church we make the sign of the cross but the question which we should ask ourselves, are we ashamed to do it in public; yet many are afraid or embarrassed to do so.
For example at a restaurant before a meal are we ready to do so or are we ashamed; by making the sign of the cross will show the people around that we are Christians and a disciple of Jesus; it is also a silent witness for Jesus Christ. The Sign of the Cross is a sacrament when we make it with the right hand by touching the forehead showing our belief in the Cross, the breast showing our love for the Cross, and the shoulders showing our readiness to bear the Cross.
The power of the cross of Jesus Christ is our amazing grace, our lifeline to eternity. The power of the cross will never fail you.
