Hope is a word we normally abuse as far as possible in today’s life. How often do you use this term “HOPE”? Has it really sunk in as to what the true essence of hope is? We hope either for the best or for the worst. We use hope for our selfish motives and personal advantages. However, have you taken a moment to understand truly about what hope is? The dynamics that one simple word has?
Hope is a gift given to humanity not to abuse but use wisely. The Holy Bible mentions the word Hope about 130 times. What does it really tell us about Hope? Repeatedly the Lord tells us in His word, hope is built on Faith and that Hope is the earnest anticipation that comes with believing something good. It is a confident expectation that naturally stems from faith. It is confidence and assurance of we do not see. It is a belief that the impossible is possible through our Lord.
Having said that, I bring your attention in today’s crises led world. A direct question arises where our Faith and Hope is. An often question asked. Where is God in the midst of all these tribulations? Has God forgotten us? Have we not believed enough? Is our faith and hope just lip service i.e. words from our mouth and not from the depths of our heart?
Let us take a moment to analyse ourselves. Do we truly have faith from the depths of our heart? If we truly lived by faith alone? Have we misused and abused this word Hope.
Let us pause and reflect.
Having reflected on what is Faith and Hope in our life, we come to an understanding that God has not forgotten us; He only wants us to come close to Him. To repent and come back to Him again. Faith Hope and Love is a promise (1 Corinthians 13:13 – ‘So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love’) given to all of us who believe in Christ Jesus, that there is nothing impossible through Him.
The Lord has clearly mentioned that if we put our Faith and Hope in His word we will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before us, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands in praise. (Isaiah 55:12) In simple words anything and everything is possible if we have Faith and Hope.
Then why do we doubt in times of crises like this? The Lord says, “Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour me” (Psalm 51:15). In this time of the pandemic that we are facing globally, it is a reminder of our Faith and Hope. Have we neglected our Faith in all our worldly possessions and desires? Did we hope for a future where God leads us through in His truth and way?
In this time, we truly should repent and come back to our Faith. The Lord mentions in His word and has already warned us with a promise saying:
“Whenever I hold back the rain or send locusts to eat up the crops or send an epidemic on my people, if they pray to me and repent and turn away from the evil they have been doing, then I will hear them in heaven, forgive their sins, and make their land prosperous again.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)
It is very clear we need to walk by Faith in our actions and words. We as Christians should proclaim about our Faith and Hope in Christ Jesus. He will restore our land and make it prosperous again through true Faith and Hope.
